Shénchåo

morass seterra

It was a dream, this temple: a shock of bright reds, oranges, and whites above the sea of dark green.
How many days had it taken to carve the snakes adorning the roof, their giant bodies coiling, slithering, serpentine, and sidewinding?

The Living Place: Talhümus Yurt Village

GEOGRAPHY

Biomes: Savanna, dry desert, wetlands, high alpine, steppes, montane, temperate rainforest, temperate broadleaf, chaparral

History: For millennia, there were loosely held Tribal Territories across the Morass seterra: the sea-dwelling Kodumjin occupied the western shores of the seterra and the Shiteik seaterra; the Shámin occupied the vast majority of the southwestern lands, from the Cáidiq Mountains to the Dáharûd Desert.

The Talhümus lived on the steppes and northern plains during the winter months; the Dakúdmin occupied the eastern plains and southern wetlands; and the Teolangin occupied the forests east of the Annul Desert.

With the establishment of the Shamin’s Guǎdí Empire under the rule of Ma Gao, 3,578 YBP, and the following 300-year reign of Empress Ning, the entire seterra came under Shámin rule. It was divided into five realms and renamed Shénchāo.
